You want a nice wedding but you are on a tight budget. Here are ten inexpensive wedding ideas that you might want to try. They are just at random so read them all and decide if you may want to use at least one of them.
- If you are getting married in a church, ask if they have decorations. Since churches are where most couples get married, they usually have some decorations for the asking. You may be surprised at the selection they have in a storage closet.
- Think about making paper flowers. There are a bunch of patterns for some nice looking flowers made with paper. These can be made weeks ahead and colors are limitless. Try some first but using floral wire and tape thee come out pretty sharp. They have come along way in the years.
- Need a nice favor for your reception. How about a heart shaped sugar cookie with your names on. Put these in one of those baggies you tie with a bow. You have a nice decoration and something guests will enjoy eating. These can be made and frozen so you won't worry about the last minute thing.
- Print out photos on card stock. Cover 3 large pieces of thick cardboard with something to match your wedding colors. Put photos of the bride on one sheet of cardboard, photos of the groom on another and photos of both together on the third. Use these on a large wall. Tack the photos on with decorative thumb tacks and you have a nice decoration and a conversation piece. I have done this for numerous events in our family.
- Something for the wedding reception. How about a taco bar, a sundae bar or even a hot dog and chilli bar. These can be great for early weddings. Use your imagination.
- Barter help. If a friend is getting married, you and your parents can help with their reception set up in exchange for them helping with yours. This can be used with talent also. It is a good way for them to mingle in the family. Chances are they don't know most of your family so if they are serving in the food line they can chat and later decide who most suites them to visit with later on at the reception.
- Another food choice can be a big roaster of goulash with a nice salad and garlic bread. Give this as an option for a sit down meal and it can be put together quickly if you don't want to do a buffet. You could offer a tuna noodle casserole option too.
- Ever thought about having a time theme wedding. If you thought the 60's would have been a neat time, go there. Ask around for 60's stuff. What type of wedding gown was in the 60's grooms suite etc. Not only can you get bargains for this retro stuff. You will have a unique wedding. Just because there are inexpensive wedding ideas doesn't mean they won't set a standard to follow.
- Make a big cut out. If you have software to do it you can print a large image in tile format. I use the old computer paper. I can print 4 sheets in on tile. Then I put them all together and spray mount them on a large sheet of cardboard. I get the cardboard from local businesses. Then I cut it out with a jigsaw. These are pretty neat. Imagine using a favorite photo of the couple. This will keep guests busy taking photos with "the bride and groom" before they get to the reception.
- Get married where you have your reception. This can save on travel expenses. You might get married outside and ask guests to carry their chair inside for the reception. If it is an informal wedding this shouldn't be a problem.
I hope these ten inexpensive wedding ideas have given you some ideas of your own. Although you can't use all of these if they have started you in a thinking mood then I am pleased. Good luck on your special day!
